We decided to decorate for Christmas the Sunday after Thanksgiving because Scott was out of town the next week. I love turning on Christmas music, pulling out all our decorations, setting up the tree, talking about the ornaments with the girls, and setting up our nativities. The first Christmas Scott and I were married I got him a little nativity that was made in Chile (where he served his mission) after that first Christmas we decided to make it a tradition to buy a nativity from a different country every year. We have Navities from Mexico, Chile, Germany, Ireland, Peru, Bangledesh, Nepal, Bethlehem, Nigeria, and this year thanks to Grandma Alice, Fiji.
Here is Anna and Scott decorating our tree.
Lilly loved the lights on the tree and all the craziness that comes whenever we try to do anything.
After we had finished decorating we had an unexpected and unknown visitor who left us a special gift. As Cecilia likes to tell the story, "I heard the doorbell, and opened the door, but nobody was there-I didn't see anyone." On our doorstep was this book and our elf, who we have named Elfie. Elfie, as explained in the book, watches us throughout the day and at night flies home to Santa to tell him if we were naughty or nice. He then returns the next day and Cecilia and Anna have to find where he is when they wake up, they are always so excited when they find him and are very concientious of him watching them throughout the day. He will go back to the North Pole on Christmas Eve and return to us each year from here on out. I think it is a really fun tradition.
We are so blessed to have our three beautiful girls to share the holidays with and I can't wait to see what other surprises unfold as the holidays continue.
