Powderpuff Pinewood Derby

In activity days this year they did a Powderpuff Pinewood Derby.  So Scott and Anna picked out a design and worked on making her a car.  A old school New York taxi cab.

I was skeptical, to say the least, about Scott's ability to make a working car.   When we lived in Walla Walla a boy named Phil Stevenson, whose mom was a single mom, asked Scott for help with his car.  Scott agreed, but had no clue what he was doing and it was obvious when during the first race Phil's car didn't even make it down the hill-yes I said it didn't make it down the hill!  Phil had won the derby the last two years and had traveled to the Tri-cities to compete in the regional competition.  After his disastrous first run he turned to Scott and said, "Well, maybe I can still get third."  Oh, how Scott improved this time around with a little help from Dwayne Kriepl and some hidden weights on the bottom.  Anna's car ran great, was really fast, and Anna had a great time.
