CALLING ALL SUPERHEROES!
"Superhero Cece," defender of truth, justice, and all things sparkly turned 5 and we had one super party!
I set up training stations and explained that all training was extremely important because Candyman, the super villain who steals all children's candy, was reported to be in the area and we would need to get the candy back.
Alice and I made capes for each of the kids and I had my friend Liz put their initial and design on the back of each of them-they looked awesome!
Lilly loved the "Flight School" part of training where they had to jump off of a stool and then run a course between cones to get to the finish. Other training stations included a "Scary Swamp" where the kids set off on a course on our ugly green basketball court being careful not to touch the green or the dry ice giving off smoke to make it more realistic; a "Vaporize the Villain" practice course with silly string and helium balloons with faces drawn on them to shoot at.
Here is Eli with his superhero mask on. I made these out of felt and then sewed elastic bands on the back.
OH NO! The Candyman arrives!
Scott looked hilarious, or creepy dressed up with his beard and bag of candy but the kids had fun chasing him down.
Lilly was terrified of him, but weeks later sometimes suddenly calls Scott "candyman" and laughs.
Here was our super cake, Cecilia's choice. Lunch included "hero sandwiches," "power-aid" "Victorious Veggies," and "Fantastic Fruit."
Make it a good one Cecilia!
Here is the inside of the rainbow cake-it turned out really cute and all the kids thought it was really cool.
And here is the courageous crew after a great day!
Cecilia insisted for weeks that she wanted roller skates- I think we are almost guaranteed to have a broken arm, but we decided to fulfill her wish and get her some.
What a special day for such a special girl, Love you Cec!
